Launch Oceans

Launch Dal established the Launch Oceans program in March 2017, where oceans-related ventures are accelerated over an 8-week program. All Launch Oceans teams were invited to pitch their ventures at Oceans Week on June 6th 2017.

Launch Dal held an oceans innovation weekend were participants from a oceanography, engineering, computer science, business and more endeavour to come up with new innovating ideas for businesses related to the Oceans around us.

Challenges in the Oceans Frontier

Presentations were made on the challenges that are faced in the ocean frontier which may expose potential opportunities that may lie beneath the surface. Throughout the weekend participants had the opportunity to network and form teams to further develop their ideas and were instructed on how to proceed such that they might be able to bring them to fruition.

A panel of experts in the various fields of ocean related enterprises were on hand to discuss the challenges they face as businesses. This helped participants identify potential areas where they may delve into to develop business ideas.

Experts attended from oceans businesses in the fields of:

  • Tourism
  • Transportation
  • Fisheries/Food
  • Oil & Gas
